Steve Griffith of Hamilton, Ohio is a 2005 RE/MAX World Long Drive Champion

Hi, I am Steve Griffith a 2005 RE/MAX World Long Drive Champion. You will note in the video clip that I drove a golf ball 320 yards on a fly that embedded into soft ground on a cold damp night that won the World Long Drive Championship in my age division. 320 yards may not seem that long to win a world championship but I assure you that under those conditions only a handful of golfer's in the world could come close to that drive. Over the age of 50 under normal conditions I have driven the golf ball over 380 yards in long drive competition. At the age of 57 in actual world competition, 2007, I hit drives of 360 yards and came in 2nd in the world getting beat by one yard. I have proven time and time again that I am one of the longest drivers of a golf ball in the world. You do not have to lose distance as you age. I have proven this. Near the age of 60 I still hit the ball consistently over 350 yards.

By profession I am a schoolteacher. I am also a coach, scratch golfer, motivational speaker, executive coach, and trick shot artist, along with being a World Champion long driver. If you are looking for ways to improve your game, information on long driving, corporate outings, scrambles or someone to represent or promote your product or service I would be glad to help you. I like teaching school but just as much I enjoy teaching golf and seeing others improve, especially on how to hit it very, very long.

Steve was recently featured in a Golf Tips Magazine article on how to hit it longer. Here he demonstrates the correct shoulder turn to bust it long and straight.

Steve Griffith 2005 World Long Drive Champion

A quick and easy way to hit it long is to concentrate on your shoulder turn. On the back swing, your left shoulder should be under your chin, and on the downswing, your right shoulder should turn and take the place of where your left shoulder was at address. Make sense? The shoulders help to initiate the necessary rotation of the body and they're also easy to visualize when it comes to improving your swing. Remember, the golf swing is a turn, not a slide.
